Student, Young Woman's Film Academy

I am a young woman growing up in the North East, soon to embark on my GCSE exams. I have the privilege of being a member of the Young Woman’s Film Academy. This organisation has given me opportunities that have helped me to find my confidence and my voice. I now use this platform to contribute and to help promote the academy and all the wonderful things that they have accomplished in supporting young women growing up in the North East of England.

My achievements include being part of a team of young woman who create films that bring light to subjects that sometimes we are too afraid to discuss, for example period poverty and the effects of social media on us all. While promoting the Film Academies work, I was asked to be a guest on a live show for Radio Newcastle and I was part of a panel hosting a Q&A session at the Northern Power Futures Conference.

I’m so proud of myself that I had the courage to take part in the Girl Kind project when they came to my school, I was so afraid it was only for smart girls!!! You’re never too young to make a difference.
