Dermot Boyd was named chief executive officer of QVC UK in January 2010. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing QVC UK’s operations, which includes locations in Chiswick, London and Knowsley, Merseyside. QVC UK broadcasts from Chiswick Park, London, 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, with 17 hours of live programming each day (from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. UK time).
Boyd joined QVC UK as chief financial officer in November 1993, six weeks after QVC was launched in the country. In his former role, Boyd oversaw the finance, human resources and legal departments. In 2008 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to working for QVC, Boyd served as group financial controller for Alexon Group plc, a UK retail group with several ladies’ fashion chains. His previous work experience also includes management and leadership roles with Total Group plc, an international thread and textiles company, and ICI plc, a multinational chemicals and pharmaceuticals company.
Boyd earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Cambridge University and his master’s degree in operational research from Lancaster University. He qualified as an accountant with PwC.
