Fiona Hull founded Construction Q in 2010 with nothing more than a spare room, a laptop, and her wealth of contacts in the construction industry. 9 years later they are targeting a £1m turnover, a full order book for the year ahead, and are proud of their talented and loyal team.
Based in Cheshire, (with plans for a new office in Preston later this year), CQ cover all aspects of Cost Planning, Cost Control & Cost Management.Other services including Estimating for Contractors, Project Management, Contract Administration & Dispute Resolution. Working on schemes ranging from hospitals, schools, churches and residential developments – through to private clients building their dream home – the team at Construction Q ensure that projects comes in on time, and budget. Offering the highest standards of professional service, via a highly motivated team, committed to delivering excellence, yet able to work around family life and personal goals.
A large % of the team are female, but its not just about the Power Women at CQ. 12 months ago, Stephen Hooker joined the business as co-director and the company has since gone from strength to strength. Steve heads up the Main Contracting side of the business and his experience and drive has been invaluable as they move towards a 7 figure turnover. Aside from commercial schemes, community work is important to Construction Q.
They are proud to work on a Pro Bono basis for several charities including the Joshua Tree Foundation, and they regularly support local events with the rotary and junior sports teams.
Away from the office, Fiona is married to Joe and they have 2 sons. There is a strong love of football in the family – even the golden retriever is named after their favourite player – Silva! Fiona regularly takes part in charity runs and will be attempting the Wilmslow Half Marathon again in 2019 for Prevent Breast Cancer.
What does it mean to be a Judge for the Northern Power Women Awards?
It’s a huge privilege to be asked to be a judge for the Northern Power Women Awards. We were lucky enough to be recipients of an Award last year and it was humbling to be in the same room as so many inspirational women. We can’t wait to be a part of it again this year!
If you can take one thing from the judging process, what do you want it to be?
I can’t wait to be inspired by the entries this year. There’s nothing quite as powerful as hearing about other people’s success. Everyone has their own story to tell and the NPW Awards gives the opportunity to shout it from the rooftops!
Please complete this sentence…”I am supporting Northern Power Women because…..”
I believe that women should be able to have it all. Family is everything but it shouldn’t mean that you can’t also enjoy a successful career. Movements like the NPW Awards not only highlight the need for supportive employers and industries, but they celebrate those that are already making a difference. The awards night itself is amazing and it just grows in momentum year on year. We are extremely proud to be a part of it and will be celebrating our own ‘Northern Power Women’ (& men!) at Construction Q
