Social Mobility Manager, United Utilities

My greatest achievement is becoming Social Mobility Manager of the North West’s only FTSE100 company at the age of 26! I’m extremely proud to be managing an agenda that’s supporting people to reach their full potential and one that’s really driving change across the region.

Being born in an area of deprivation and extremely low social mobility myself, I fully understand the difficulties and barriers young people face when it comes to access to education, employment and enrichment activities. That’s why I’m so invested in supporting and inspiring young people from similar backgrounds.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve worked hard to evolve and build a recognisable and trailblazing social mobility agenda at United Utilities. The work I lead on has been recognised by Justine Greening and as a result, we are one of 12 businesses out of the 400 signed up to the Social Mobility Pledge who have been asked to create a Social Mobility Insights Report, showcasing the amazing work we do to successfully improve social mobility across the region. The work I manage has also placed United Utilities on the Social Mobility Awards 2019 Roll of Honour, which recognises our valued contribution to the movement.
