For the third year running, EY will be the headline sponsor for the 2023 Northern Power Women Awards, marking their commitment to accelerate progress on diversity and inclusion in business and wider society.
During that time EY and NPW have worked on a number of initiatives together.
1. The NPWAwards
In its seventh year, the NPWAwards has been attended by over 5000 people, received over 6000 nominations, showcased the achievements of exceptional role models in the region, and sparked conversations with over 25 million impressions generated across social media.
The 2022 Awards was bigger than ever, with 1000 people attending the celebration at Manchester Central, which was also live streamed, multiplying its reach.
With diversity and inclusion at the core of NPW, this year we are increasing accessibility to the nominations process, which can now be made via audio submission. As well as prompting more nominations, we also hope it will encourage other organisations to challenge the traditional processes and procedures they typically have in place and rethink how they can be more inclusive.
Reflecting on the awards, Alison Kay, EY UK&I Managing Partner for Client Service commented:
“The Northern Power Woman (NPW) Awards positively unites people and organisations, to showcase – with huge pride – the exceptional talent and opportunities this great region has to offer. EY is proud to be part of that community and to work alongside Simone, to champion investment in the North of England and the levelling-up agenda.
“This will be the third year that we have sponsored the Awards, which highlights role models and their achievements, celebrating the strengths of the region and its contribution to the prosperity of the UK. At the same time, as the largest celebration of gender equality in Europe, NPW plays such an important part in accelerating progress on gender diversity, which aligns to my own personal values as well as EY’s purpose – Building a better working world.
“Together, we can drive the agenda further and faster for the benefit of business, the economy, and society, to create lasting change.”
The Northern Power Women Awards 2023 will take place at Manchester Central on Monday, 20th March.
2. The NPW Podcast – EY’s Catriona Campbell
Simone Roche MBE chatted to Catriona Campbell, Senior Partner, Global Advisor and UK&I Client Technology & Innovation Officer at EY on the Northern Power Women podcast back in January. They discussed how technology can be used for good and why the human element of technology is so valuable.
In the episode, Catriona highlighted the recent opening of EY’s first UK Neuro-Diverse Centre of Excellence in Manchester and how it is setting a new standard for inclusive workplaces.
3. PoWEr Collective’s webinar on neurodiversity with EY panellist Tori Roberts
Tori Roberts, EY Neuro-diverse Centre of Excellence Leader, joined BNY Mellon’s Jamie Pratt, and Irene Afful of Ametrine Coaching, on the PoWEr Collective’s webinar discussing how we can harness the power of neurodiversity. Hosted by Simone Roche MBE, the webinar sparked insightful discussion, including the lived experience of neurodiverse individuals and the reflections of parents. The final takeaways included the importance of empathy, compassion, and curiosity in business.
4. Roundtable and insight Paper
The PoWEr Collective’s webinar sparked a roundtable event – in partnership with BNY Mellon – bringing together a cross section of individuals, including EY representatives.
After a second roundtable, which looked more in depth at tangible advice for employers, an insight Paper was commissioned to prompt action on improving inclusion in the workplace for all. The Paper is set to be published jointly by EY and NPW later this year.
Building a better working world
The positive relationship between NPW and EY is contributing positively to a change in business and wider society.
By working together, the outputs certainly align to EY’s global purpose – Building a better working world.
